Dinamo's footballers stormed into the Conference League with a powerful performance, scoring five goals to send Kazakhstani champions Astana packing... Dinamo managed to break through their opponents' defensive wall in the dying moments of the first half when Robert Ljubičić made a run into the penalty area from the left side, only to have visiting striker Dembo Darboe step on his foot. Bruno Petković stepped up to the penalty spot and converted to give his team the lead in the 43rd minute.

The Polish referee awarded another penalty at the start of the second half. Sadegh Moharrami crossed from the right, and visiting left-back Yan Vorogovskiy pushed Mahir Emreli at a crucial moment. Martin Baturina met the ball, heading it from the edge of the six-yard box, but goalkeeper Josip Čondrić managed to prevent the goal with his foot while falling. However, the referee had already pointed to the penalty spot. Petković took the run-up again and with another powerful strike made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute.

Just five minutes later, the Maksimir stands erupted again. Marko Bulat masterfully executed a free kick from 18 metres on the left side: with his right foot he cleared the wall and placed the ball into the top corner.

The visitors pulled one back in the 78th minute when right-back Kamo Hovhannisyan ran into the penalty area and precisely found the far bottom corner. Antonio Marin then took centre stage, first hitting the goalkeeper from six metres in the 85th minute before eventually extending the lead in the same move. Bohdan Mykhaylichenko crossed from the left, and Marin deflected the ball into the goal with his head.

The story was concluded with a sublime touch in stoppage time by debutant Tibor Halilović, who initiated the attack before skilfully finding the near bottom corner from about twenty metres on the left.

Dinamo goalkeeper Ivan Nevistić also earned applause with several brilliant saves.
