About the Tournament

Dinamo Football School organises the prestigious Mladen Ramljak Memorial international tournament for players under 18. The tournament is held in memory of a former junior and long-time first-team player of Dinamo who, in 1967, helped the club achieve its greatest success in history – winning the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

The tournament has been held since 2003 and has featured many renowned clubs such as: Rapid Wien, Atletico Mineiro, Slavia Prague, Olympiakos, Hajduk, Rijeka, Osijek, Udinese, Ferencvaros, Hertha Berlin, Wisla Krakow, Porto, Benfica, Steaua Bucharest, Zenit St. Petersburg, Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Galatasaray, Dynamo Kyiv.

Cadets and entering juniors are eligible to compete in the international memorial, and in addition to hosts GNK Dinamo, seven strong junior teams participate in the tournament each year. Dinamo juniors have claimed the tournament title a total of 12 times in 19 editions of the tournament.

About Mladen Ramljak

Mladen Ramljak was born on 1 July 1945 in Zagreb and first stepped onto a football pitch in the summer of 1957. He established himself in Dinamo's junior ranks.

He spent an impressive 12 seasons at the Maksimir club, during which time the Blues were finalists of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1963 and won the competition four years later. They also won the Yugoslav Cup in 1963, 1965 and 1969. Ramljak played 523 matches in a Dinamo shirt before continuing his career at Feyenoord in Rotterdam, where he spent four full seasons, winning the Dutch championship and the UEFA Cup in 1974.

One of the best defenders in the entire history of the Zagreb club left us forever on 13 September 1978. He tragically passed away as a result of a traffic accident near Novska. He was only 33 years old.
