Dinamo – Rijeka 6-0 (road to the title)

The Blues matched their record victory against Rijeka with a convincing and inspired performance. They celebrated a 6-0 win, and the only previous occasion when they achieved an identical victory against the same opponent dates back to the 1958/59 season.

Dinamo's team in this new "six-goal haul" against Rijeka was led by coach Krunoslav Jurčić, and the story was opened with the first goal and closed with the last by Pedro Morales. He and Ilija Sivonić were both double goalscorers.

Moreover, only 26 seconds of play had passed when Morales hit the post. Soon after, in the 4th minute, he had already found the net. He initiated the move, led the attack through the middle of the pitch, played a short pass to the left into the penalty area where Mario Mandžukić skillfully went through, who effectively sent a first-time return pass from about ten meters. There Morales received the ball again and launched it into the goal.

Just six minutes later, the Maksimir Chilean, after scoring his goal, also took on the role of provider. From the left side he sent a brilliant diagonal with his right foot, it was a long, high, precise ball to the right corner of the penalty area. There Sivonić received it with a clever maneuver with his right foot, then escaped his marker, ran into the center and scored with his left foot for 2-0.

The third goal came in the 53rd minute. Etto took the throw-in, Mandžukić on the right side, on the edge of the penalty area, with his back to goal, received the ball with his chest and then effectively flicked it backwards, over his head... Sivonić ran in and, after the ball bounced off the ground, he torpedoed it first-time with his left foot into the goal.

In the final 15 minutes, the Blues shook the net three more times. After a corner kick, Sivonić didn't connect with the ball properly, it deflected off Mandžukić's shin, and in that scramble Tomislav Barbarić rushed in and sent it under the crossbar with his left foot.

In the 84th minute, Mandžukić with a lucid move, a clever flick on the right side in front of the penalty area, pushed a vertical ball through the entire opposition defense. Sivonić rushed in from the right and shot first-time, goalkeeper Ivan Mance deflected it to the "far post", and then 18-year-old Andrej Kramarić easily placed it into the empty net.

In the very next attack, Morales was leading the charge from the center, slightly from the left, he shot from more than 20 meters, the ball deflected off someone in Rijeka's defense and ended up in the goal.
