Dinamo – Atalanta 4-0 (Champions League, Matchday 1, Oršić hat-trick)

It was a historic evening, Dinamo's biggest victory in the Champions League, with the masterful Mislav Oršić scoring a hat-trick in spectacular fashion – finding the net with his foot from close range, with his head, and with a long-range 'torpedo'... The Blues defeated Atalanta from Bergamo 4-0 at the start of their Champions League campaign.

Although Oršić was the triple scorer, it was actually Marin Leovac who opened the scoring. In the 10th minute, Petar Stojanović delivered a cross from the right, and Leovac skillfully maneuvered the ball into the goal. The Maksimir defender soon transformed from scorer to provider. First, Dani Olmo on the left flank used an impressive dribble and turn to beat two defenders and played the ball into space for Leovac, who entered the penalty area and played it back to the 17-meter line where Oršić arrived and precisely struck first-time into the far bottom corner for 2-0 in the 31st minute.

Dinamo's inspired and flowing footballers were already leading 3-0 by halftime. Just three minutes before the break, captain Arijan Ademi headed the ball to Oršić, who also used his head to send the ball into the net.

And when it seemed the game had calmed down in the second half, Oršić struck again. In the 68th minute, Kevin Theophile found the in-form Maksimir striker on the left side with a precise long ball, and he fired diagonally over the goalkeeper into the far corner.

Atalanta also had their moments – in the 74th minute Duvan Zapata found himself alone in front of goal, but Maksimir goalkeeper Dominik Livaković made a miraculous save to prevent what looked like a certain goal. The Atalanta striker fired powerfully from seven meters, but Livaković managed to deflect the ball over the crossbar.

Coach Nenad Bjelica mixed up both the lineup and system for this occasion, playing with three defenders while Oršić, instead of on the wing, played as part of an attacking duo.
