Powerful, strong, with a brilliant leap and a cannon of a shot... That's how our unforgettable Zlatan Arnautović was - robust and sharp, but with a refined sense for the game and skilful ball handling. The brilliant Dinamo defender, one of the signatories of the famous championship title from 1982, left us forever on 17 September 2022 in his 68th year.

Born on 13 December 1954 in Bihać in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he arrived at Maksimir just on the eve of the golden season, in the summer of 1981 from Borac Banja Luka. He started at Jedinstvo Bihać and then played four years for Borac before joining Dinamo to win the 1982 title and the Cup a year later.

For the Maksimir club, he recorded a total of 124 appearances with 33 goals. In the championship-winning season, on the path to the title, he only participated in the autumn part, until mid-October when he had to serve his military service. He played his last league match that autumn in great style, scoring the winning goal against Osijek in Zagreb in a 1-0 victory. Three days later he also played a cup match in the victory against Segesta in Sisak before having to join the army. He was particularly memorable in the victory against Partizan in Zagreb 1-0 when Dinamo played from the 36th minute without the sent-off Boro Cvetković. Arnautović was precisely the solid barrier against opposition attackers and was the best player of the match.

During his career, he also played for Turkish club Beşiktaş, among others. After finishing his playing days, he devoted himself to coaching work, during which he managed, among numerous other clubs, his home club Jedinstvo and Zagreb's Lokomotiva. For years he participated in Dinamo veterans' activities.
