A spectacular long-range strike from Mislav Oršić into the far top corner was the perfect start to the first derby of the new season, a match in which Dinamo defeated Hajduk at Poljud 2-1 in the 4th round of the championship. The Blues came close to a third goal with several powerful shots, but goalkeeper Josip Posavec managed to parry the fierce strikes. The hosts managed to reduce Zagreb's lead late in the match, and in the final minute of stoppage time cleared the ball off their own goal line, once again preventing the Blues from scoring a third goal.

We will also remember this match for Kristijan Jakić's debut performance, who stood out with his energetic and solid play in midfield where he orchestrated very well alongside captain Arijan Ademi, earning special applause for a brilliant through ball to Lovro Majer in the second half. It was one of numerous attacks that had the opposition goalkeeper's palms stinging.

It was Majer who initiated the Blues' attack in the 42nd minute, sending the ball left to Oršić, who cut inside to the center, and at the far post Lirim Kastrati ran in to send the ball into the net. Just five minutes into the second half we witnessed a moment of pure artistry: Oršić received the ball on the left flank, calmly moved towards the center looking for space to shoot, then from 18 meters out diagonally fired the ball into the far top corner for a 2-0 lead for the Blues. Just before this goal, only seconds earlier, the omnipresent and lively Bruno Petković slalomed through the opposition penalty area and played a return pass to Kastrati who shot alone from about ten meters, but this seemingly certain goal was stopped at the last moment by Posavec.

Hajduk reduced the deficit two minutes before the end when Stanko Jurić scored with a header from six meters following a corner kick.

In the final seconds of stoppage time Kastrati fired powerfully from about ten meters, Posavec was already beaten, but Marin Jakoliš managed to clear the ball off the goal line with his thigh.
