It was a sweet victory in the away derby in front of 90,000 spectators. The Blue heroes were inspired by Ivica Senze, the scorer of the winning goal, and goalkeeper Želimir Stinčić who preserved the victory with brilliant saves. He received a rating of 10 in the newspapers for his performance!

Dinamo thus defeated Red Star 1-0 in Belgrade, even though the Maksimir coach, our renowned Rudolf Belin, had to make some adjustments to the lineup as Zlatko Cico Kranjčar was absent. The hosts threatened early on, in the 5th minute Sead Sušić shot from the edge of the penalty area, and the ball flew just wide of the goal. A similar scene soon followed on the other side of the pitch, as Džemal Mustedanagić struck from 20 meters right against the post.

Stinčić's first brilliant intervention came in the 24th minute when Dragan Džajić broke past the defender in attack, powerfully launching the ball under the crossbar, but Dinamo's goalkeeper made a spectacular save. Moreover, this gave wings to his teammates who scored a goal in the very next attack.

The move was initiated by Branko Tucak, who charged down the left flank and sent a through ball to Senze, who scored in a one-on-one situation to take the lead.

The hosts came close to equalizing twice before halftime. Zoran Filipović shot sharply in the 35th minute, and Srećko Bogdan slid in at the last moment in front of an empty goal, with the ball flying over the crossbar. Already in the next minute, Džajić crossed the ball, Vladislav Bleki Bogićević hit a volley, but Stinčić made a miraculous save.

Another Bogićević attempt came in the 53rd minute, and once again Stinčić brilliantly parried the ball. In the end, Dinamo could have won more convincingly - in the 70th minute Ivan Bedi struck powerfully from a free kick, but goalkeeper Aleksandar Dika Stojanović somehow managed to deflect the ball with a save.
