Ludogorets – Dinamo 1-1 (Champions League, 2nd qualifying round, first leg)

He came into the game a minute before the end, immediately sliding on his own goal line to prevent an opponent's goal, and in stoppage time – he scored! Ante Rukavina was the hero of Dinamo's clash against Bulgarian champions Ludogorets in the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League. We will, of course, forever remember this tie for the decisive goal that Domagoj Vida scored in the eighth minute of stoppage time in the return leg in Zagreb when he shook the net for 3-2 and took Dinamo through to the next qualifying round.

However, three of Dinamo's four goals in these two matches were scored by – Rukavina. The first match was played on July 18th in Razgrad, with Ludogorets led by future Dinamo coach Ivaylo Petev. It was also the first official appearance for the Blues in the new competitive season. The Bulgarians took the lead in the 67th minute when Ivan Stoyanov crossed from the right side, and Marcelinho headed home from five metres for the Bulgarian advantage. In stoppage time, former Dinamo midfielder Franck Did'dy Guela, then a Ludogorets player, played through Mihail Aleksandrov, but Rukavina slid in at the last moment to clear the ball in front of an empty goal. And practically in the next attack at the other end, Vida led the Blues' attack over the halfway line, Mehmed Alispahić cut in from the left wing, Sammir at the far post skillfully sent the ball across goal with his first touch, and Rukavina headed home for 1-1.
