We knew the weather conditions would be difficult, the forecast was like that, we all had to adapt to it, and in the end I can only congratulate Hajduk for turning the match around and winning, stated Dinamo's coach Mario Kovačević after the away match in Split where Hajduk overturned Zagreb's lead and won 2-1.

– We did take the lead, but we need to play better, especially when we have the ball. We won many balls from them in their half. Hajduk had the first chance of the match when Bamba broke down the flank and Šego was in a scoring position. But practically we didn't allow them anything else. However, we needed to be better with the ball at our feet. As I said, we scored a goal, but apart from that we weren't good. In the end, the start of the second half was decisive. We were preparing substitutions and Hajduk scored their goal then. What happened afterwards is difficult to comment on. There was one flare then another, and then the rain intensified as well.

The conditions in the final stages were on the edge of regularity.

– Well, the conditions were impossible for playing, the pitch was completely under water, it's a different sport. But you have to adapt to it. We tried and I must congratulate my players on their reactions in those moments, especially in the last 10 minutes, they gave everything they had. I think we deserved to score a goal. In such conditions it's much easier for the team that's defending. Hajduk managed to defend and we must congratulate them on the victory.

Journalists were interested in how Dinamo's coach saw the contribution of the wing players.

– I wouldn't want to comment on individual players, but it's normal that I expect a greater contribution in the wing positions. I know the lads can do it, we now have strong competition, I'm not worried that we'll find the right form.

Near the end of the match, referee Igor Pajač came to the benches with the coaches and substitute players, was there talk about a possible match suspension?

– He was considering making a 10, 15-minute break and then playing the final part after that. The rain was falling less then, but the pitch was still heavy. If there still weren't conditions after that, we wouldn't continue playing, and that didn't suit us. We all agreed to play until the end immediately if it was at all possible.

To a journalist's remark that Dinamo has won only one point in their last three HNL away matches, the Maksimir coach added:

– I wouldn't say it's a crisis, we recently had a run of 28 matches without defeat. We'll continue to work hard, it's not easy to play against anyone, especially away from home.

Dinamo's goalscorer Dion Drena Beljo also shared his thoughts about the match:

– I'm sorry about that one mistake after our goal and about the weaker start to the second half. I think we lost the match in those 15 minutes of the second half. I'm sorry about that. And everything after their goal... You saw for yourselves what was happening on the pitch, I wouldn't comment on that. In the last 10, 15 minutes we tried to give everything we had in these weather conditions. In the end we hit the post, one ball ended up in a block... I congratulate Hajduk on the three points, we move on.

How much did the own goal 'cut' you?

– I think we started the match very well, we were getting half-chances and chances from our high pressing. We finally scored and then, from the next attack, we conceded a goal from a set piece, we scored against ourselves. It was hard to come back. In the moments when the match was being decided we weren't 'in it', we weren't right.

What did the coach tell you at half-time?

– He was satisfied with that high pressing, the plan was to continue like that and maybe be a bit calmer on the ball, to 'turn it around' a few times, to push them back to their half. In the second half we didn't succeed and, as I said, in the moments when the match was being decided we weren't 'in it'. We're sorry about the defeat, we're sorry for our fans as well, but we move on, we still have a lot to play for, it's a marathon. We move on, into every match for three points – Beljo concluded.
